Imagine a giant room, filled with free food samples and free wine. That is how I spent my Saturday, surrounded by the two things I love the most.
When you enter the building you can buy a glass for $5. This then becomes your most prized possession for the day.
Our first free wine sample was with Yealands. This was where I found my favourite red wine of the day. (Probably because after the first 3 they all started tasting the same)
We wondered around getting fed free samples of cheese & chutneys, in a happy place called Cheese Alley.
Then we wondered into the carnivore section and I indulged in a cone of meat.
Meat sweats.
Kate of course went for a sausage.
As did emily.
We did some more wine tasting/sampling/gargling.
We even had a little preview of what's in store during our visit to the Hunter Valley in a few weeks - I predict a great time.
Then we discovered the free pizza.
To soak up the pizza we found ourselves drinking more vino.
There were soo many wine merchants to explore and on each stand there were lists of different wines. You pick which one/two/three you want to sample and they pour some into your glass. Of course some stalls were more generous that others...
Next up on the edible part of the day were four different mini pies from Bocastle.
We ended up eating these beauties next to the Jacobs Creek stand where we went for dessert.
Then we had more food...
And Jodans gave me breakfast
We headed back over to the 'Chill Factor' as the girl on the stand had promised to make us strawberry daiquiris!
These gadgets are amazing, all you do is pour your juice/coke/whatever you wish into the jar. You then squidge the sides and it turns into a slushie.
Apparently there is a type of saline solution in the coating that crystallises the liquid. Perfect for frozen cocktail making!
With 10 minutes left until it closed we dashed back to Ristorante for another slice of pizza
And a chocolate covered strawberry.
We then headed home full to the brim and very merry.
It was a great day and we left with some extremely creamy delicious cheese products from Harris Farm and finally a red wine I like!
(Note to self - do not turn into parents)
